Maxus G10 offers assist device for PWDs

By Bernie Cahiles-Magkilat

Maxus Philippines yesterday introduced G10 Assist, a first of its kind vehicle available locally on a commercial scale for persons with walking difficulty.

Maxus GM Reginald See said there is a local demand for and a market that can afford and willing to buy this kind of vehicle for their loved ones who have a hard time walking.

A GT10 buyer has the option to have the electronically-operated swivel seat installed.

The G10 Assist comes with the programmable swivel lifting seat right at the 2nd row, conveniently beside the sliding door. This seat swivels to face the sidewalk, slides out and can be lowered down to street level so that the elderly or the wheelchair-bound person can easily take the seat, or disembark.

The programmable swivel lifting seat is easy to operate, via remote control or even through mobile phone via an IOS app. It has a position memory function, path recover function, path obstacle sensor, door interlock, low-power detection and warning, mechanical manual function and anti-tip protection.

Without the device, G10 comes at a special price of P1.68 million. The assist package would cost P399,800, as a dealer option, for a total vehicle price of P2,079,800 per unit.

According to See, this kind of assist in a vehicle is not entirely new in the country as there are some units already in operation, but not as extensive as what Maxus is offering. In addition, Maxus price for the device is 30 to 50 percent cheaper.

“We are not necessarily the first, but we are the first to offer commercially,” said See.

“Maxus G10 is designed and equipped for persons with disability, not just the elderly, but also people who have a hard time walking after an accident. We intend to help them get that quality of life,” he added.

“With the G10 Assist, they can now join their family in travels and share memorable adventures.”

They may also offer G10 Assist fleet for hospitals, but See said the target is really individual customers.

See could not also come up with sales projection yet for this specialized vehicle saying the segment is still undefined.

“We planned to offer it and we will see how the public will accommodate,” he said.

The G10 was launched only last June 5, along with the V80 vans, wherein Maxus Philippines was also introduced as the sixth automotive brand partner under Ayala group’s AC Industrials.

The company is looking at 15 to 20 units in monthly sales or 500 units in a year for Maxus.

The G10 offers “Max Adventures” for all members of the family. It is powered by a Euro4 1.9L Turbo Diesel Common-rail Direct Injection engine mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission that produces 150 Ps of power and a 350 Nm of torque, making it powerful yet fuel efficient.

For Max Design, this 9-seater MPV has a modern and luxurious design. It offers spacious interior and comfort amenities, highlighted by four captain seats at the rear, power adjustable seat for the driver and front passenger and flexible seating at the rear to provide a spacious luggage room. It comes with a 7-inch touchscreen radio with Bluetooth, USB with 6 speakers system, a 220-volt power supply and front and rear air-conditioning system.

For Max Safety, the G10 meets global safety standards with integrated body structure, front and side airbags for the driver and front passenger, 3-point seatbelts on all seats, ISOFIX, front and rear parking sensors, and rear camera.

With the G10, you get Max Adventures, Max Design and Max Safety.
The G10 Assist retains all these comfort, power, and safety features, but adds a customized technological innovation that would make transporting the elderly and persons with disabilities (PWDs) so much easy and convenient.

In his welcome remarks, Automobile Central Enterprise, Inc. President Felipe Estrella said, “With the G10 Assist, we can help our beloved family members with disabilities become more empowered and mobile, as the G10 Assist opens a world of new possibilities for them. PWD can now be enhanced to ‘PWeDe’ as the G10 Assist MAXimizes transport options and MAXimizes assistance with a platform for them to live life to the max. MAX madali ang buhay pag may G10 Assist!”
