In a bid to bolster its digitalization efforts, BPI has introduced new features in its mobile application for seamless and convenient transactions while maintaining high security for users.
One of the main features of the new mobile app is the “Transfer via QR code” function, which saves users time from actually lining up in bank branches just to transfer money. With this, digital payments are made easier and even more accessible, since all you need to do is to scan or import the QR code of the person or merchant you’re sending money to. To do this, log in to the BPI Mobile app, go to Transfer Money, select Transfer to 3rd Party, then tap on the QR image. Or you may just tap the “Transfer via QR” button when you launch the app.
Aside from skipping bank queues, the “Transfer via QR code” is also more secure and less prone to errors since users will not be required to enter the 10-digit account number.
According to Noel Santiago, head of BPI Electronic Channels Group, the new BPI Mobile app is the company’s way of boosting the Philippines’ cashless economy in order to bring significant benefits to the country.
“It’s about shaping and creating a whole new experience for our customers through digitalization, offering them a better, safer, more convenient way to bank with us,” Santiago said.
Other new features of the new BPI Mobile app include an expanded prepaid loading option. Users can now buy load for telco networks including Globe, Smart, Sun, and TnT, as well as prepaid utilities such as Meralco and Cignal. The upgraded BPI app also now offers safer and easier access via fingerprint and face ID login.
