Friday markets: Peso-dollar rate at P49.75; stocks slip

MANILA BULLETIN

The peso and the stock market ended in opposite directions on Friday, May 26.

The Philippine peso–US dollar exchange rate at the Philippine Dealing and Exchange Corporation (PDEX) closed at P49.75, stronger than Thursday’s (May 25) rate at P49.83.

At the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) reference exchange rate bulletin, the exchange rate settled at P49.87 to the greenback.

On the other hand, the Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi) slipped by 4.16 points (0.05) to close at 7,867.49.

The all-shares index also declined by 3.51 points (0.08%) at 4,689.88.
