This development came after PEZA director general Charito Plaza informed Hermosa town mayor Jopet Inton that several foreign investors, particularly Arabs, are bent on investing in the ecozone for their food production business, among others.

“We are very thankful to Madam Plaza of PEZA for fully supporting our ecozone by inviting foreign locators to pour in their investment here,” said the commercial pilot turned town mayor.

Inton said that Hermosa ecozone is strategically located — which is along the triboundary of Bataan, Pampanga and Olongapo/Subic.

Aside from this, Inton pointed out that Hermosa is just 15 minutes drive away from Subic International sea port and Airport, and is along the Subic-Clark-Tarlac expressway and just 25 minutes drive away to nearby Clark.

Plaza told Inton that investors want to take advantage of ASEAN market with the Philippines as the regional hub, saying two groups of Arab investors are seen to pour in their investments in the sprawling Hermosa Economic Zone in Northern Bataan.

The two groups of Arab investors from Middle East countries were identified by PEZA Director Plaza as Zaid Alhussain and brothers and Al Shasheen establishment.

The two Middle East groups of investors were impressed to invest in the country after the PEZA delegation led by Plaza recently conducted an Investment Mission in the Middle East, particularly the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Qatar where they also “conducted seminars/orientations last February 11-17 to promote the Philippines as an investment destination, forge business partnerships with Arab investors and convince them to take advantage of the ASEAN market with the Philippines as the regional hub.”

Initially, Plaza told Inton, Zaid Alhussain & Brothers Group will put up shop for its processing of halal-chicken and organic vegetable crops for export, including establishment of an Islamic Community complete with a Mosque, while Al Shaheen Establishment will also invest in Poultry/Halal food processing.
