Wakay Air will service the Clark International Airport (CRK) to Bagabag, Nueva Viscaya a couple of months from now, starting May 17, 2017, Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC) President and Chief Executive Officer Alexander Cauguiran yesterday announced.
At present, the Ivatan-owned Wakay Air offers chartered flights to Basco, Batanes but plans to diversify to other local destinations in partnership with AirSWIFT Transport Services, Inc.
This May, the airline will mount the CRK-Bagabag flights every four days using a Dornier aircraft with a 31-passenger seating capacity.
Initially, the airlines will cater to foreigners from tour operators in Europe and local corporations bound for the Banaue Rice Terraces.
“By using Clark, travelers will only take one hour and forty minutes from Bagabag airport to the Banaue Rice Terraces,” he noted.
From Manila, it normally takes eight hours of land travel to the Banaue Rice Terraces in Ifugao.
Wakay Air has no local individual bookings as of this time. All reservations are package tours amounting to $1,000 per person for four days and three nights, including domestic airfares, hotel and city tour.
“Around September this year, we are looking forward to having daily (CRK-Bagabag) flights, which are more affordable and may be booked by local individual travelers,” according to the CIAC president.
