The peso and the stock market opened the trading week in opposite directions on Monday, March 20.
The Philippine peso–US dollar exchange rate at the Philippine Dealing and Exchange Corporation (PDEX) closed at P50.09, slightly stronger than Friday’s (March 17) rate at P50.18.
At the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) reference exchange rate bulletin, the exchange rate settled at P50.15 to the greenback.
On the other hand, the Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi) dropped by 28.45 points (0.39%) to close at 7,316.57.
The all-shares index also slipped by 12.86 points (0.29%) at 4,404.34.
